So you're thinking about writing your own nonfiction book. How wonderful! I LOVE that so many are willing to share their light this way.
Over the past eight years, I've been able to work together with many fellow writers to help hone and polish their messages. I specialize in nonfiction, from biographies to my first love--inspirational nonfiction. At this time I don't edit fiction, though I can be persuaded to make exceptions if chocolate is involved. Whether your book is an idea in your heart and mind right now, or polished and ready for submission, I am here to help if you need it.
P.S. Before you hire me or any other editor you feel is a good fit, it's good to make sure you really need one. And editor can be extremely helpful, but not always necessary.

BRAINSTORMING/CONSULTING
$40 an hour If you are building a house, this is a consult with an architect who helps envision the final product. Feeling stuck? Need to talk through some hiccups? Having a hard time organizing your thoughts? I'm happy to help with whatever you need! Calls past 60 minutes are billed $20 for every additional 30-minute increment. |
LIGHT EDIT
$50 per 10,000 words or $0.005 per word If you were building a house, this would be like a general report from an appraiser.
This is an affordable option to a developmental edit. It includes one light pass of the manuscript and an editorial letter containing general feedback on whether the book is headed in the right direction, its strengths and weaknesses, and other applicable thoughts and suggestions. |
DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT
$80 per 10,000 words or $0.008 per word If you were building a house, this would be a deep inspection of the design, foundation, scaffolding, plumbing, and wiring--the structure of the home.
This is an in-depth holistic treatment of the structure of your book. It includes a deep pass of the manuscript, including some WORD in-text edits and comments, a detailed editorial letter covering thoughts on style/voice, organization of ideas, strength of thesis support, readership response, marketability, and other concerns. You'll also receive a 60-minute follow-up video or phone call to discuss my feedback and answer any other questions you might have. |
CONTENT EDIT
$100 per 10,000 words or $0.01 per word If you were building a house, this would be a deep inspection of the things your guests see and touch--the paint, furniture, and decor. The way you express yourself and how you make people feel.
Does your writing serve your message well? This edit is all about the content. It's a more hands-on edit focused on readability and accessibility. It includes one deep pass of your manuscript including WORD in-text edits and comments. This focuses on sentence, paragraph, and chapter structure to ensure your message is being shared in the clearest, most-powerful way while staying true to your voice. You'll receive an editorial letter discussing the strengths and weaknesses of your pros, use of scripture/quotes if applicable, and more. You'll also receive a 60-minute follow-up video or phone call to discuss my feedback and answer any other questions you might have. |
COMPREHENSIVE EDIT
$140 per 10,000 words or $0.014 per word The developmental and content edit combined.
It's the best of both worlds! You get a deep, one-pass reading of your book with WORD in-text edits and comments, including an editorial letter that looks at both the structure and content of your book. You'll also receive a 60-minute follow-up video or phone call to discuss my feedback and answer any other questions you might have. |
REREAD
$30 per hour If you were building a house, this would be the final walk-through before the move-in.
Offered only to returning clients. This Is for those who wish for me to read their manuscript after suggested changes have been made. As in all edits offerings, It's totally optional. |

- Also note that even the best editors can and do make mistakes. We, ourselves, can miss 5% of our own errors because we are human. So please be kind if you find a few errors in my edits and comments. Thank you.
